Helen Keller Services for the Blind was founded in 1893 with the intention of helping those who are visually impaired. They offer a variety of services for those who are completely blind, and also those who have reduced vision. Some of their programs include rehabilitation, job placement and training programs, and orientation and mobility training for those who have lost their vision. These services are vital for the blind, and help them on a daily basis. Vision is something that most people take for granted on a daily basis. Try going 15 minutes blind folded in your house and see how well you can manage.
The HKSB organization also helps children with vision impairments. Every summer they do a six week camp that helps blind children boost their morale and self confidence. These camps are also great for building social skills, as children of all ages from across the country to meet one another and form new friendships with people who are similar to them. They also offer a variety of college preparation courses and vocational training.
Like I mentioned earlier, vision is something we really take for granted. This great organization helps people who have lost their vision to continue living a full life, and helps rehab people who’s vision could be restored. This is why I am proud to say that Contact Lenser has made a donation to their organization. You can too by clicking here.
